Indonesian Car Sales Increase

Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) reported that car sales in Indonesia rose 25 percent in the first half of this year, compared with same period last in 2011.

According to the data owned association said sales in the first half of 2012 has reached 525,692 units, while last year for the same period just as much as 419,665 units. Meanwhile, the down payment (DP) of at least 30 percent of which came into force in mid last month, has not felt the consequences.

The same is also mentioned by Managing Director of PT Ford Indonesia, the day before yesterday. He estimates that the probability of a decline in sales could happen. But there are many potential buyers to delay purchases because the DP is still lacking. Still ordering the queue number of vehicles that are still piling up in some brands make sales go up. Because the supply of Thailand began to recover, especially for sedans models, hatchbacks and pick-up. Almost all the brands increase sales.

PT Nissan Motor Indonesia claimed its sales rose 35 percent from 24,499 units to 32,712 units. Honda is the only brand in the top 10 that are still not able to match last year's sales. In the first half of this year Honda only managed to achieve sales of 22,664 vehicles, down 5 percent.
