Daihatsu, Nissan, Suzuki and Toyota Ready to Build Cheap Cars

Toyota became the last or fourth brand to participate in a program cheap car and environmentally friendly cars or Low Cost and Green Car (LCGC) in Indonesia. This is revealed in the presentation of the Director General of Industry Leading High Technology-Based Industry Ministry Budi Darmadi the Automotive Industry Development Policy workshop in Jakarta, earlier this week.

Described, LCGC divided by two. First, four-wheeled vehicle powered passenger 660-1000 cc, fuel consumption should be 22 kpl and the 1000-1200 cc engine.

Before the regulation was published, the Ministry of Industry has managed to obtain a "commitment" from the investment of the three principals and four brands of Japan's approximately 1.6 billion dollars, or Rp 14.32 trillion. The details, Daihatsu invested 400 million U.S. dollars, Suzuki 800 million U.S. dollars, U.S. $ 200 million Nissan and Toyota's 41.3 billion yen, or 524.5 million U.S. dollars.

With this commitment, Indonesia received various benefits such as additional new economic activity in industrial 200 parts, 11,000 unit sales service network and 33 000 for an unofficial network of repair shops. Others, opened 6000 new jobs in every brand and 2,500 people in the industry supporting components.

In addition to contributing to economic progress, hope Indonesia can also create self-sufficiency in the field of automotive technology; especially produce "power train" consisting of 120 groups of components. The target is 80 per cent of these components in a period of 3 to 5 years can be produced in Indonesia.
