Toyota Produce Diesel Engine and Hybrid in Thailand
Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) have announced that Siam Manufacturing Co Ltd (STM) as the basis of TMC machines in Thailand, this company plan to build a new plant to produce diesel engine with capacity 150,000 units. This plant will be operated on 2010.
STM have built workshop for 200,000 units of capacity before, proposed for many kind of cars. The fact of machines production reaches 229,000 units last year which is 72,000 units are exported to 6 countries and still not enough.
The capacity of this plant after developed becomes 350,000 units. This is not included of gasoline engines that the total reaches of 600,000 units per year. Thailand become a global production project and supply to International Multipurpose Vehicle (IMV) starting from 2004. STM than fulfill this requirement for supply ASEAN Countries.
Toyota Motor Thailand also have announced will produce of Camry with hybrid machines beginning next year. This step as the commitment with principal to support the popularity of hybrid car in the world. Production will be targeted for 9,000 unit per year. Thailand becoming the first ASEAN country which build Camry hybrid and have accepted by costumers. The first product of Toyota hybrid was Toyota Prius that have marketed.
